Flora Calvo holds an LL.B. and an LL.D. from the Complutense University of Madrid as well as a Diploma in French Law from the Jean Monnet-Sceaux Law Faculty at the University of Paris XI. Currently, she is a member of the law firm Winkels Abogados and a Lecturer in Private International Law at the Rey Juan Carlos University in Madrid. She began her teaching career over 15 years ago at the Complutense University of Madrid as Lecturer in Private International Law and subsequently at the Madrid Bar Association and Comillas Pontifical University.
Ms. Calvo is a contributor to numerous publications, book chapters and articles in prominent legal journals.
With her extensive experience as a lawyer and her proficiency in French and English, Flora Calvo has taken part in prestigious international conferences in this field such as ‘Meaning and content of personal relations: special reference to visiting rights’, held in the Hague; ‘El fenómeno migratorio en la transformación de la sociedad civil’ [Migration and the transformation of civil society], hosted in Naples (Italy); and ‘La reconnaissance et l’exécution des décisions de Justice en matière Civile et Commerciale. Cas pratiques et débats’ [Recognition and enforcement of judgments in civil and commercial matters. Practical case-studies], held in Algiers (Algeria), among others. She has recently participated in national conferences such as the one presented by the Directorate General of Women of the Region of Madrid entitled ‘Los alimentos y medidas relativas a menores: Competencia y legislación’ [Alimony and measures concerning children: Competence and legislation], or the one hosted by the Rey Juan Carlos University entitled ‘Reclamaciones internacionales de alimentos en la Unión Europea’ [International alimony claims in the European Union], among others. Moreover, Flora Calvo has taken part in various research projects.
